If you plan on an outside mount, the depth of the window
doesn't matter. But the measurement points vary depending
on whether or not you have molding and/or a sill. If you have
moldings, consider them as a part of the window opening. If
you have a sill, the height is measured from the top of the
sill to the top of the window opening.
Window show without a sill. If you have a sill, measure the
height from the top of the sill to the top of the window opening,
including top molding if you have it.
Measure the height of the window opening in three places
(left, middle, and right) and record the longest measurement.
Lastly, measure the width of the opening in three places
(top, middle, and bottom) and record the longest measurement.
Be sure to include molding when measuring the width of your
window opening, if your window has it.
TIP: Always use a steel tape measure.
